Hugo Arana

What if every student could find the service-learning club where they could make the greatest impact? I created LIA Connect after noticing that many students signed up for clubs at the Service Learning Fair but did not always stay actively involved. To help students find the right fit, we gathered information from all of Lincoln International Academy’s service-learning clubs and organized it on a user-friendly website highlighting each club’s mission, activities, impact, and opportunities for involvement. I also designed the ServiceMatch Quiz, an interactive tool that matches students with clubs based on their interests, strengths, and values, helping make their service more meaningful and purposeful.

As founder and President of LIA Connect, I aim to make service more meaningful. I want students to find causes they care about and become active members. By making information accessible and helping students find the right fit, LIA Connect boosts participation and highlights our clubs' work across Nicaragua.

Through LIA Connect, I hope to build a stronger culture of service at Lincoln, where students understand that their skills and interests can make a real difference in their community.

Valeria Matto

As Vice President of this project, I intend to build a sense of unity to among my fellow LIA students. By connecting all the service clubs through one website, I hope to improve communication, making it easier for students to get involved and want to make a difference. I believe in the importance of fostering community engagement in service, especially since we live in Nicaragua, a country so poor yet filled with so much hope. This project is not just about making our lives easier, it’s about empowering us to work together and inspire positive change in our community.

As the treasurer for this project, I am dedicated to making the fundraising process as painless as possible for the clubs at Lincoln and to ensuring that Lia Connect runs smoothly. Our mission is to make community service as accessible as possible for the students at LIA so that they may make meaningful impacts on our community, build deeper bonds, and improve the lives of others. It is so much easier to approach service learning when one can find all the information they may ever need in one place, which is why I believe that LIA Connect is so important.
